Google Ad Grants work just like Google Ads online advertising, by displaying your message to people who are searching online.

Every day, people search on Google for churches in their area, for solutions to their felt needs, and for answers to life’s toughest questions. By showing up in results for these searches, your church can meet people when they need it most.

Since churches can receive up to $10,000 per month of free spending in Google Ads, the Grant can be a helping hand to the outreach efforts for those who might not otherwise have the budget for paid advertising, or a wider reach for those who do.

However, the Grant comes with a lot of regulation to ensure that it’s being used correctly. Not only will we obtain the grant on your behalf, we will then manage it within these regulations to spend Google’s money on various campaigns. The number of campaigns and level of spend will vary depending on the plan you choose.
As long as your church is approved by the IRS as a 501(c) 3 you should qualify for approval of the Google Grant.
Once approved, the Google Grant does not need to be re-approved every month or even every year. It remains active as long as properly managed.
The short answer is that your Google Ad Grant will need to be managed by Google Ads specialists. The ads themselves are donated by Google, but you’ll pay Missional Marketing to manage the campaigns on an ongoing basis.

Thanks to Google’s strict regulations for maintaining an ad grant, ongoing adjustments are needed to keep the campaigns performing optimally and to avoid having your grant shut down altogether. Making the right adjustments relies on expert knowledge of the Google Ads platform in generating the greatest spend, targeting the most relevant audience, and avoiding shutdowns.
You could in theory, but it would be an extremely technical and time intensive undertaking. We have yet to see any church managing their own grant obtain as much traffic or achieve as great a monthly spend as we do.

It's also important to remember that not all clicks are created equal. If your church is looking to grow, producing one click by someone more likely to show up in church on Sunday may be more valuable than 10 clicks by people who aren’t.

Being that the Google Ad Grant is greatly dependent on constantly changing rules, regulations, trends, and platform functionality, we feel very strongly that this work is best suited for a professional marketer.
The answer to this depends on many factors including which plan you choose, the amount of Google search activity happening around your church, and the structure of your website itself. The monthly spend will vary month by month, but you can generally expect the following range:
